Postmedia News revealed in 2005 that the central Glasgow property where Macdonald may have been born is part of a parcel of land slated for redevelopment by Selfridges & Co., a high-end British department store controlled by Canadian retail mogul Galen Weston. “It is still earmarked for demolition,” said Davidson, adding that some community leaders and residents have objected to the proposed size of the parking lot and the “sterility” of that land use in “the heart of the historic area.”
